In Search Of Symmetry was formed in 2015 by Vaughan Sullivan (vocals) and Josh Nicholson (guitar/vocals) - long term friends from school days with a shared passion for bringing the positive edge to a genre of music often associated with introspection, melancholy and anger.
Vaughan had spent the previous years crafting songs out of a fusion of his favourite genres, with hooks and lyrics that dared listeners to leave behind negativity and celebrate life while screaming a defiant "I WANT TO LIVE".
Soon after refining the best of those original songs, Vaughan and Josh recorded their debut EP "Polariods" with longtime friends Sonny and Evan from world-renowned STL Studios. A sonic triumph in its own right, this initial EP could easily be mistaken for the later work of a mature outfit in their prime, rather than the first effort from two schoolyard friends from the Mornington Peninsula.
Not content to rest on their laurels, the pair continued writing into 2016 and returned to STL to again team up with Sonny and Evan on their follow-up effort titled "Unbreakable". An exciting evolution of the sound first forged on "Polaroids", the Unbreakable EP saw the boys reaching for the sky with five inspiring, empowering and complex songs that somehow managed to move their listeners even further above the clouds.
Barak Bartlett (guitar) then joined to complete the line-up in early 2017, bringing with him a solid work ethic, extensive gigging and writing experience, and an all-round fun-loving attitude.
Each of the members brings their own unique pedigree from the artists that have come before them across the genres spanned by In Search Of Symmetry's sound; from 30 Seconds to Mars to A Day To Remember, blink-182 to Every Time I Die; Killswitch Engage to Taking Back Sunday; Architects to The Used.
The band has big ambitions for 2017; with plans for national touring dates and an album recording at STL Studios firmly in their sights.
Bring your own love of life, and In Search Of Symmetry will bring the soundtrack.
